These are the moments parents love....the moments when your children step up and command that they are noticed! Maya had been anticipating her opportunity to be Child of the Week in her kindergarten class for weeks. She carefully searched through boxes (and boxes) of photos, to make sure she selected the correct ten to show to her classmates. It's funny the photos she considered to be a "momentous occasion" versus which ones I thought were! She searched high and low for her five "favorite things". We finally eliminated the box of dog fur, the four foot long stuffed horse, and her favorite blanky, since the items had to be at school overnight. She ended up with two stuffed animals, an "owl feather" (as seen in photo-it was purchased at Hobby Lobby-she thinks it is straight from the owls back!), her cross that hangs above her bed, and a large porcelain horse.
Her presentation went off without a hitch. She used her pointer with finesse, and carefully explained what each picture represented, and then showed all of her treasures. When it came time for questions, she showed no mercy when the same question was asked twice, and impatiently said, "I already ANSWERED THAT!" (Kinda funny!) She is definitely NOT a shy child-and is for sure, her father's daughter! All in all, she loved her moment of glory, and we loved watching. A photo of her special day....
